Newcastle: Newcastle United have closed their training facility and are reportedly conducting a mass test for coronavirus in their play and backroom staff after an outbreak at the club.
The entire game team was asked to self-isolate on Monday, the Guardian newspaper reported Tuesday, and local media say the training ground is unlikely to open anytime soon.
Newcastle’s next game in the Premier League is taking place at Aston Villa on Friday.
According to competition guidelines at the time of the epidemic, the team must meet its schedule if at least 14 players, including a young team, are available to play.
Neither Newcastle nor the Premier League have commented publicly on the situation.
The match has not been postponed in the Premier League due to a virus spread in the team.
In a recent round of inspections, 10 people tested positive for COVID-19 in players and club personnel, the league said.
