Kenya’s Kibiwat Kandi broke the world record for the half marathon on Sunday, becoming the first person to break the 58 minutes in the Valencia Half Marathon.
Candy, who finished second in the World Half Marathon Championships in Gdinia in October, finished the race in 57 minutes 32 seconds, 29 seconds ahead of the previous record of 58:01 set by the outlaw Jeffrey Kamvoer in 2019.
The top four men are in the former world rankings, Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo was second in 57:37, Kenya’s Roenex Kipruto was third in 57:49 and Kenyan’s Alexander Mutiso was fourth in 57:59.
