England’s David Malan has been given the highest rating by a batsman after he topped the scoring list against South Africa in the men’s T20 International rankings, the International Cricket Council said on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old has reached 915 points and is the first player to cross 900 points in form. Australia’s Aaron Finch recorded exactly 900 points in July 2018.
Mullen’s bat with 173 runs tops the series as England complete a 3-0 series sweep against South Africa.
England’s leapfrog helped Australia to the top of the Australian men’s T20I team with an unbeaten 99 in Tuesday’s final.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain Malan has been praised for his versatility and consistency.
Hussein told Sky: “When they need to increase the run rate on difficult pitches, they grind the score and they can’t use balls in dot balls on the powerplay they don’t – they go out and break it.”
“He’s never overhit. It’s classy batting – it’s not power, it’s just time. Sometimes he makes it look effortless.”
Malan has 44 points behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam, who overtook him in September.
