NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani of Qatar’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday pledged to enhance bilateral cooperation in the flow of energy and energy security, and decided to create a special task force to further facilitate Gulf investment. In a telephonic conversation, Modi conveyed his wishes to the Emir of Qatar for the upcoming Qatar National Day, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
While thanking Prime Minister Modi for his greetings, the Emir praised the enthusiasm of Qatar’s Indian community for participating in the national day. He conveyed his best wishes to Modi at the recent Diwali festival.
The PMO said the dual leaders discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of investment flow and energy security and reviewed recent positive developments in this regard.
The Qatar Investment Authority has decided to create a special task force to further facilitate investment in India and explore Qatar’s investments in India’s entire energy value chain, the statement said.
The leaders agreed to stay in touch regularly and look forward to meeting in person after normalizing the public health situation caused by the Kovid-19 epidemic, the PMO said.
