KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday accused the Center of using central agencies to bulldoze the country’s federal structure and sought to find out where the Prime Minister’s Civil Assistance and Emergency Relief (PM Cares) fund is.
Banerjee said his government would not act according to the desire and goodwill of the BJP-led administration at the Center.
Where has all the money for the PM Cares Fund gone? Does anyone know the future of these funds? Where has the trillion dollars gone? Why not audit? The center is giving us a lecture. “They have given us what we need to fight the Kovid epidemic,” he said at a press conference after the Cabinet meeting.
The Trinamool Congress chief has accused the Center of targeting West Bengal as elections are approaching, saying law and order is better than other states in the country.
“The Center is using agencies to bulldoze and intimidate us. We are not afraid of them. They (BJP) are not a political party but a trash of lies,” he said.
The elections for the 294-member West Bengal assembly will be held in April-May next year.
Regarding the peasant protests in North India, no other political party has supported the BJP in terms of agrarian laws but the saffron party is adamant about bulldozing it, he said.
