NEW DELHI: Pakistani troops firing along the LOC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir have killed a border security officer on Tuesday, officials said.
Firing across the border in the Tarkundi area of the Mendhar sector is “unprovoked”. Officials said there was an “effective” response from India on the firing.
Frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistani soldiers over the past eight months have resulted in serious casualties and loss of property.
Security forces are increasingly warning across the border to block Pakistan’s efforts to infiltrate weapons and drugs using drones.
Last month, three security forces personnel were among six people killed in a number of ceasefire violations by Pakistani soldiers along the Line of Control from the Gurez Zone to the Uri Zone.
Security forces neutralized another Pakistani attempt to infiltrate the Line of Control when they discovered a cross-border tunnel allegedly used by four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists to infiltrate India from the Samba region.
