NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday attacked the premises of Kerala PFI President OM Abdul Salam and its national secretary Nasruddin Elamram as part of the probe into the money laundering case, official sources said.
He said the search is being conducted in Malappuram and Thiruvananthapuram districts of the state.
Sources said the move is being carried out under the provisions of the Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
It is learned that some other premises related to Kerala-based Popular Front of India (PFI) have been searched but there was no visualization.
The Central Investigation Agency is investigating the PFI’s links to allegations of anti-citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protests and other instances in the country.
It had previously recorded the statement of Salam, a senior aide of Kerala State Electricity Board.
PFI was created in Kerala in 2006 as the successor of the National Democratic Front (NDF).
In these instances PFI and Salam have previously denied any wrongdoing.
