Jammu: In the second phase of the J&K District Development Council (DDC) poll on Tuesday in 43 constituencies, 48.6% of voters participated in the first major democratic exercise. The center abolished the special status of J&K and divided the state into two central regions – J&K and Ladakh – in August last year.
State Election Commissioner (SEC) KK Sharma said in a press conference that “the second phase of the DDC election voting went peacefully without any incident being reported anywhere in the central region.” Srinagar.
In the first phase of polling in 43 constituencies on November 28, the turnout was 51.7% – 64.2% in Jammu and 40.6% in Kashmir. The SEC said a large number of people came out to vote on Tuesday. Long queues were seen early in the morning despite severe cold in Kashmir and Jammu.
