BHUBANESWAR: The State Department of Higher Education announced on Monday that no undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) exams will be conducted before the resumption of physical teaching and the completion of the syllabus by such a physical teaching method.

Department Secretary Saswat Mishra said in a letter to Vice Chancellors of State Public Universities and the Principals of Government and Non-Governmental Colleges functioning under the Department of Higher Education.

He said the academic session was badly affected by the ongoing Kovid-19 pandemic-related evacuation. “Although online teaching continues, for many reasons most students are unable to take advantage of such online teaching. Therefore, it is not desirable to conduct a test based on current, online teaching only,” Mishra said in the letter.

Mishra said exam behavior should be considered only after the resumption of physical teaching.

Due to the speed of the Internet and the lack of online infrastructure with students, many students face difficulties attending online classes. Rural students sometimes go to the top of a hill or to a tree to get internet speed. Many college students fail to attend online classes, sources said.
