In the recently concluded three-match ODI series, Pandya scored 210 and scored 58 in the first two matches. However, the right-handed batter is not on the Indian team for long-term format.
Pandya was a key member of the Mumbai Indians team that won the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 title at the Dubai International Stadium last month. He has played 14 games for the team and hit .281 with a strike rate of 178.98.
Asked if he would remain in the Test series at the post-match press conference, Pandya replied, “It’s a different ball-game. I don’t mind if they ask me to go back to Test matches. I have a call. With the management of the team, I can’t say much about this.”
After the T20I series, India will play four Tests against Australia. India captain Virat Kohli will play just one in four Tests before returning home, as he has been given a BCCI paternity leave. Availability for the Rohit Sharma Test series is also not clear as his fitness will be re-evaluated at the National Cricket Academy on December 11.
The first Test of the series will be held at Adelaide Oval from December 17.
