Mumbai: The Bombay Cricket Association’s (MCA) ‘s preferred choice for domestic 2020-21 is the fourth option that the BCCI presented to the state associations on Sunday: Hold the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and Vijay Hazare Trophy Tournaments and skip the Ranji Trophy this time.
Due to Kovid-19, the Board has given four options to all its state entities in an e-mail to shortened domestic cricket. Option 1: Ranji Trophy only; Option 2: Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 only; Option 3: Ranji Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali T20; Option 4: Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
“Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare play tournaments. This is the best option for all the state associations in India. Most of us are on the same page at the MCA Apex Council. This gives maximum opportunities for all domestic players. They give franchisees the opportunity to appreciate before the auction, ”a trusted source from the MCA told TOI on Monday.
Explaining some of the other reasons for choosing this option, the source said: “We have a small window to host domestic cricket before the next IPL.
